How to send Telegram conversions to Google Ads
When a Google ad sends people to Telegram, the conversion happens where Google's tag can't follow. The fix works like any offline conversion: keep the click ID, then report the join yourself.

Why Google Ads needs help
The Google tag works on web pages. A visitor who taps through to Telegram leaves the page, and the join happens inside the Telegram app. Google records the click and nothing after it, so Smart Bidding has nothing to learn from.
The click ID is the key
Each click on a Google ad adds an identifier to the URL: gclid, or gbraid or wbraid for some iPhone traffic. Google uses it to connect a conversion to the exact click, ad and keyword.
Your tracking link has to keep that value as the visitor passes through, and store it with the invite link the visitor gets. If a redirect drops the parameter, the join is still counted, but Google can no longer credit it to an ad.
Create a conversion action for imports
- In Google Ads, create a new conversion action and choose to import conversions from clicks, rather than track a website.
- Give it a clear name, such as Telegram join.
- Set the count to One, so a person who joins twice isn't counted twice.
- Pick a click-through window that matches how long people take to join. Google allows up to 90 days.
- Make it a primary action if you want bidding to use it.
Send each confirmed join
Each upload needs three things: the click ID, the name of the conversion action, and the time of the join with its time zone. You can send it through the Google Ads API or a scheduled file. Imported conversions don't show up instantly, so check the action's status a few hours after the first upload.
Good to know. A conversion dated before its click, or after the click-through window, is rejected. Most failed imports come down to a time zone mismatch.
Mistakes to avoid
- A link shortener or landing page that removes the click ID.
- Counting rejoins as new conversions.
- Sending the click time instead of the join time.
- Switching bidding to the new action before it has enough conversions to learn from.
With TrackJoin
TrackJoin keeps the click ID on every tracked link, waits for Telegram to confirm the join, and sends it to your Google Ads conversion action. The same join can also go to Meta or to a postback.
